MA in Counseling
Heidelberg at Arrowhead Park offers a significant number of graduate courses toward the MA in Counseling, which could be completed in as short as two & 1/2 years. Individual coursework will depend on your desired career track-school counseling, community counseling or courses towards clinical counselor licensure. All courses are one night per week.

Heidelberg at Arrowhead's MA in Counseling program is designed to meet most of the academic requirements for students seeking licensure as a Professional Counselor (PC), Professional Clinical Counselor (PCC), or a Professional School Counselor (PSC) in the State of Ohio. (Some additional coursework on the main Heidelberg College campus in Tiffin may be required.)

The program is dedicated to educating, motivating and encouraging students to enter the counseling field in areas that maximize their unique abilities and interests. Two program concentrations are available: School Counseling and
Community Counseling.

The School Counseling program is designed to meet the academic and field experience requirements for those students who are seeking licensure as a Professional School Counselor (PSC) in the state of Ohio. The goal is to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to provide appropriate counseling services within a school setting. Requirements include: a Master's degree, two years of teaching experience under a provisional or professional teacher license; OR three years experience as a licensed school counselor in another state, OR successful completion of a school counselor induction year.

The Community Counseling program meets the academic and field experience requirements for licensure as a Professional Counselor (PC) or Professional Clinical Counselor (PCC) in the State of Ohio. To qualify to take the state counseling licensure examination, students must complete 60 hours of coursework, including 20 clinical, and take at least one course in each of the 5 specific clinical areas. Specifics on how to satisfy requirements for the Professional Counselor Licensure Examination (PCLE) are available through the Graduate Studies in Counseling Program.
